It sheds some light on the experiences of Dominican immigrant women who began their pursuit of the American Dream by dedicating their lives to creating beautiful, delicate, and sophisticated dolls. The documentary seeks to highlight the work that has charmed children and adults all around the world from Queens, businesswomen, and actresses to world leaders. Their voices and stories highlight how the world economic system mobilized, shaped and transformed the lives of immigrants as they integrated themselves into the U.S. labor market, and ultimately how globalization and its discontents drawn many of these workers’ dreams as production shipped to China and the company finally closed its door.
